GPF to host Presidents Fellowship Awards at Daystar University Athi River

[Athi River, Kenya – November 11, 2025] On 11th November, the Global Peace Foundation announced the 5th Cohort of the President’s Fellowship Awards, to be held at Daystar University Main Campus Athi River, on 28th November 2025.

[Athi River, Kenya - November 11, 2025] On 11th November, the Global Peace Foundation announced the 5th Cohort of the President’s Fellowship Awards, to be held at Daystar University Main Campus Athi River, on 28th November 2025.
The announcement was made during a GPF visit to the Daystar University Directorate of Resource Mobilization. The GPF delegation, led by the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Manager, Mr. Vincent Ochieng, comprised the Environment Manager Mr. Japheth Ouda, and two others.
The visit focused on enhancing collaboration in environmental conservation, particularly through the Manu Chandaria Tree Nursery located at Daystar’s Main Campus Athi River. The partnership started in 2022 courtesy of former President of the Daystar University Students Association (DUSA), Mr. Walter Nalwa.
The team discussed the possibility of expanding the initiative to engage more students and strengthen community outreach.
The Fellowship, launched by GPF to mentor young African leaders in peacebuilding, leadership, and environmental stewardship, has empowered hundreds since its inception in 2020.
Distinguished guests expected at the event include the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr. Paul Mvurya, environmental champion Ms. Charleen Ruto, EU Ambassador H.E. Amb. Henriette Geiger, and Mr. Vincent Rapando from the Chandaria Foundation.
Others present at the meeting were the Director of Resource Mobilization Ms. Jacqueline Mathaga, the University Services Manager Ms. Caroline Mwangi, Mr. Walter Nalwa from the Daystar Alumni Office, and DRM Fundraising and Communication Assistant Ms. Carolyne Nyokabi.
Mr. Nalwa was instrumental in starting the first tree nursery at Daystar, gifted to the University by the Chandaria Foundation and GPF. Mr. Nalwa is an alumnus of the President’s Fellowship Awards.
Daystar University has reaffirmed its commitment to continued partnership with GPF and the Chandaria Foundation in promoting youth leadership and sustainable environmental practices.
