Daystar University Welcomes Back Postgraduate Students

[Saturday April 5, 2025] The Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro hosted postgraduate students ready to resume their studies after taking an academic break. The meeting, which took place at the Nairobi Campus DAC Auditorium, was attended by 266 students.

[Saturday April 5, 2025] The Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro hosted postgraduate students ready to resume their studies after taking an academic break. The meeting, which took place at the Nairobi Campus DAC Auditorium, was attended by 266 students.
Thanking the postgraduate students for responding to the Vice Chancellor's invitation in large numbers, the Director of the Graduate School, Sr. Prof. A. L. Lando reminded them that true to Philippians 1:6, God will complete the good work He had started in them.
Citing a survey conducted by the Graduate School, Sr. Prof. A. L. Lando said the students had paused their studies for varied reasons, key among them work and family commitments, financial and health challenges.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro reiterated the University’s commitment to supporting students to achieve their goals. He added that Daystar University was a serious institution with clear goals.
The VC urged the postgraduate students to aim at completing their studies not only for their personal growth, but also in order to benefit the University and their nations.
He reiterated his vision to make Daystar University a leading research and postgraduate university in Kenya.
The VC announced that Daystar University will soon be introducing a PhD in Policy and Administration and a Master’s in Public Health.
The Vice Chancellor implored faculty members to support the returning students as they work to graduate, stating that Daystar University stands for the Kingdom of God and should be known for excellence in its work.
On his part, the Ag. DVC ARSA, Prof. Samuel Muriithi, reiterated the University's commitment to revitalizing teaching, learning, and research. He explained that the students were called back because the university was keen to see them achieve their academic goals.
Adding his voice to the discussion, the Principal Nairobi Campus, Prof. Michael Bowen, encouraged the postgraduate students not to look back, but continue their academic journey to completion.
On his part, the University Registrar expressed his expectation of seeing the returning students resume, complete, and graduate. He advised them to make use of their academic mentors, Deans, and Heads of Departments.
The Deans: School of Communication Prof. Levi Obonyo, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Josephine Munyao, School of Applied Human Sciences, Dr. Kennedy Ongaro, accompanied by his Heads of department, and Associate Dean, School of Business and Economics, Dr. Joannes Kyongo, all promised to support the returning students.
